News of Whatsapp banning certain smartphones from using it came out in 2016. According to some news articles, Whatsapp decided to ban some phones by the end of 2016. Now the application makers are meditating upon this issue once again.
Mobile phones with certain operating systems will not find support from WhatsApp anymore.
The company has confirmed that Whatsapp will not be supported in BlackBerry (BlackBerry 10 also), Nokia S40, Nokia Symbian S60, Android 2.1, Android 2.2, Windows Phone 7.1, iPhone 3GS / IOS 6.
The decision will come into power after June 30, 2017, although the company announced it earlier as well.
When the decision was declared, many users expressed their disagreement over it. Therefore, the company decided to avert it for some time. But now the company has taken its final decision on the issue.
Some sources have suggested the users upgrade their smartphones to new operating systems. People having operating systems other than mentioned on the list need not worry about anything.
If you remember, Whatsapp announced withdrawing its support from many mobile operating systems. The list included operating systems of Blackberry, Nokia and old versions of Android and Windows OS.
Amidst all this, Whatsapp added two new features to the ones having Android operating systems.
One of them is live location feature which helps you to share your location with your contacts. Another feature is inserting stories. Much like in Instagram and Snapchat, Whatsapp too came out with this feature. Here you can insert short stories and share them with your contacts.
Recently another news came regarding the issue. Now the company has decided to extend its support to Blackberry OS and Nokia smartphones. It will give mobile users extra time to update their devices or move their conversations from WhatsApp.
