Back when Kader used to teach in college, he also took part in a small play in the Annual Day Function. As soon as Dilip Kumar got an inkling of his outstanding performance, he expressed a keen interest in watching the play. Impressed by Kader’s acting skills, Dilip Kumar offered him roles in Sagina Mahato and Bairaag.

Kader Khan worked as a professor at the MH Saboo Siddik College of Engineering in Byculla, Mumbai before entering into Bollywood. There he taught Civil Engineering.
