Alka Kaushal is a renowned TV actress. She has done several daily soaps which include Qubool hai, Kumkum Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan and Swaragini. The tv actress is also known for her work in Marathi movies.
Moreover Alka has acted in few Bollywood movies also. She played the role of Kangna Ranaut’s mother in Queen and Kareena Kapoor’s mother in Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
47 year old Alka is the daughter of popular theater actor Vishwa Mohan Badola. She has now landed herself in a legal term. And it is because of a bounced cheque. District court of Punjab has sentenced the actress and her mother for 2 years of imprisonment.
Now the duo will have to stay behind the bars for 2 long years. She is accused of money laundering and fraud. Moreover, her two cheques of Rs25 lakhs got bounced.
The actress and her mother had borrowed 50 lakhs from Avtar Singh for producing serial with the promise to return back the money. When Singh asked for his money, they handed him 2 cheques of 25 lakhs each which got bounced.
Following this he moved to a local court in Malerkotla in 2015, which sentenced 2 years of imprisonment to the actress and her mother.
The duo moved to Sangrur court for relief. They filed a petition in Sangrur court. However, the duo didn’t get any relief from the court. Session judge of the Sangrur upheld lower court’s order.
Advocate Sukhbir Singh said “Alka and her mother had borrowed 50 lakhs from an acquaintance, Avtar Singh. The money was borrowed with the promise of serial-making. When Avtar asked Alka to give back her money, he got 2 cheques of 25 lakhs each. But they got bounced. After that Avtar filed a case against Alka and her mother in Malerkotla court.”
