Anil Kumble the cricket legend has stepped down as India’s coach. On Tuesday he blamed Captian cool Virat Kohli for his resignation. He said that on Monday for the first time BCCI told him that Virat has reservations with his coaching style.
He was taken aback when he got to know that Virat has problems with his coaching techniques. The 46 year old coach’s decision to resign came after India’s embarrassing loss in the ICC Champions Trophy final match.
Despite continuous attempts to clear misunderstandings, he said that their partnership had become untenable. Since a long time, there were rumours of feud between Virat and Kumble. However, now the former coach has confirmed those reports.
Two days before the start of the Champions Trophy there were reports that Virat has informed the board that players are not comfortable with Kumble’s techniques. And that is the reason why despite the success of team India under Kumble’s charge, board issued an advertisement for the head coach position.
Under Kumble’s charge, India’s ranking had reached number 1 in test series. However, after Virat’s complaint Board issue an advertisement for the position of head coach.
As Kumble’s contract was ending by Champions Trophy he reapplied for the position. However, when Kumble got to know about Virat’s reservation he resigned from coach’s position.
On Tuesday he took to twitter to clear air on his resignation.

“Post this intimation, I was informed for the first time yesterday (Monday) by the BCCI that the Captain had reservations with my ‘style’ and about my continuing as head coach. I was surprised since I had always respected the role boundaries between Captain and Coach. Though the BCCI attempted to resolve the misunderstanding between the Captain and me, it was apparent that the partnership was untenable, and I, therefore, believe it is best for me to move on,” he said in his message.
“Professionalism, discipline, commitment, honesty, complimentary skills and diverse views are the key traits I bring to the table. These need to be valued for the partnership to be effective. I see the coach’s role akin to holding a mirror to drive self improvement in the team’s interest,” Kumble wrote.
“In light of these reservations, I believe it is best I hand over this responsibility to whomever the CAC and the BCCI deem fit,Let me reiterate that it has been an absolute privilege to have served as head coach for the last one year… I will remain a well-wisher of the great cricketing tradition of my country forever,” Kumble stated.
